{Spoiler Alert}
I saw Hacksaw Ridge the other night.
I actually don’t watch many war movies anymore… but I heard this was good… and a few of my boys wanted to see it…. so we watched.
In case you’re unaware…
Hacksaw Ridge is about WWII American Army Medic Desmond Doss, who served during the Battle of
Okinawa.
If you remember your history, you’ll recall the combat at Okinawa was brutal.
But Doss, because of his refusal to kill, entered the fight without a gun…
Yet, due to his bravery and compassion he received a Medal of Honor… for risking his life to save 75 wounded soldiers.
The way the movie presented Doss willingly putting his life in danger — over and over again — to save others was inspiring.
His commitment to principle was moving too.
And it made me think…
Bringing salvation to a fallen world takes courage.
It always has.
It always will.
Moses, David, Paul and others… they all had to be brave to fulfill their role in God’s redemption story.
And the same is true for you and me.
Thankfully… God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of of power, love,
and self control (2 Tim.1:7)...
So we can carry out the callings He has for us.
