A word fallen into disuse...

Published: Thu, 04/06/17

Did you know the word 'dominion' used to be a lot more common than it is today?

For example...

There was a period when Massachusetts was called the 'Dominion of New England.'

And...

During America's founding, ministers regularly spoke of 'enlarging the dominion of our Lord Jesus Christ.'

Today, we're just not used to that kind of language.

Which seems to reflect the little vision we have for Christ ruling the nations.

And this may -- at least in part -- explain why the dominion of our Lord appears to be doing more retreating than expanding.

But...

Just because the word and idea of 'dominion' has fallen out of public use, doesn't mean it should drop from your own way of thinking.

The truth remains:

Jesus has been given an everlasting dominion that will not pass away (Dan. 7:14), and His rule will extend from sea to sea (Ps.72:80).

And because of this...

It makes perfect sense to view whatever responsibility He's given you as territory to develop and occupy until He comes.
