Is grace contrary to effort?

Published: Mon, 03/27/17

Central to the Christian faith is the truth that we are "saved by grace" and "not a result of works" (Eph.2:8,9).

But does this mean there's no place for exertion in the Christian life?

For many, the answer is "yes" -- and 'grace' has had a paralyzing effect on them.

But the truth is... grace is not, as Dallas Willard said, opposed to effort... it's opposed to earning.

If grace were opposed to effort, how could we do the good works God has prepared for us to do (Eph.2:10)?

So, no.... grace is not contrary to effort.

Grace is what God gives us so we would align our efforts with His kingdom agenda.
