I was able to catch a bit of the confirmation hearing for
Judge Neil Gorsuch.
During the hearing Senator Ben Sasse pointed out:
Senators and judges have different callings...
... Senators are called to advance certain policies, and judges are called to apply the law fairly.
Amen to that!
One of our problems today is that judges and legislators haven't done a great job sticking to their callings... out of their desire to force certain outcomes.
But they aren't the only ones with this problem.
People in every calling have a tendency to drift from their purpose.
It happens
easily.
Knowing your calling and sticking to it takes focus and self-restraint.
But it's the wisest course for those who want to be as faithful and as fruitful as they can be.
