Why God Made You in His Image

Published: Tue, 03/14/17

I took my son to the DMV yesterday to get his driver's permit.

On the way we passed a lot of cattle... and we got wondering what cattle think about.

From watching them, it seems pretty clear they must think quite a bit about food.

They appear to eat constantly!

They also seem to have certain social habits, from the way they tend to hang out in groups.

And I suppose they have their fears... at least of electric fences.

But beyond that, I have no idea what goes through the mind of cattle!

Yet, one thing is for sure...

As wonderful as cattle are as a part of God's creation, they aren't equipped as we are.

Because only we have been created in God's image (Gen.1:26).

That means...

Only we've been made in God's likeness...

With the ability to commune with Him... and make and execute plans... as well as make free, moral, and rational choices.

Now...

Why do you think He's made us in such a way?

... So we would take dominion over His creation, of course!

If we're preoccupied with things like food, fears, and who we're going to hang out with, we're basically living an animal existence.

But if we're to live as the higher order beings He made us to be, we need to use our gifts to rule and cultivate the portion of the world He's entrusted to us.
