Does the thought of Christ's dominion scare you?

Published: Tue, 03/07/17

The other night on the news I saw a discussion about the role of Christians in politics.

It wasn't all that interesting until one of the commentators said:

"What really scares me are Christians who want dominion..."

Ooooh... that got my attention!

Now...

I understand the idea of dominion frightening some people IF...

It means setting up some kind of tyrannical church government to rule all aspects of society... as some people envision.

But that's not what the biblical concept of dominion is all about.

The Bible's teaching on dominion is simply:

The truth that "Jesus is Lord" applied to all of life (Mt.28:18-20).

Now to those who want to be a law unto themselves... sure, this is a threat.

Because it means living by His standards... and not our own.

But to those who hunger to see God's design at work in our world -- including areas like education... health care... business... law... and yes, politics -- for His glory, this shouldn't be scary at all.

It should give us hope and encouragement...

It should motivate us.

And even excite us...

As we realize He intends to use you and me to bring His kingdom to the world through the gifts He's given us... in the power of His Spirit.
