A renowned Harvard psychologist has said
that ADHD is largely a fraud.
That’s right…
According to Jerome Kagan — who is viewed by academics as one of the most influential psychologists of the 20th century — ADHD is a mere
invention that mainly benefits psychiatrists and pharmaceutical companies… rather than a serious condition.
I’m not surprised.
But I can’t help to wonder…
How many millions of people — children and adults — have been unnecessarily medicated because someone said they have ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity
disorder)?
And…
How many people are constantly held back in their lives because they view themselves as labeled with some kind of mental problem?
Of course, ADHD isn’t the only label that hinders people these days.
There are all kinds of labels our society uses — dealing with
such things as size, looks, health, intelligence, background, etc. — that keep people shackled from becoming who God intends them to become.
And that’s an important thing to recognize when it comes to fulfilling your own mission in life.
Have you ever been labeled as having some fault or deficiency?
Are you still carrying that
label?
If so, it may be keeping you from fulfilling the purpose God has for you.
And remember…
God doesn’t care so much about the labels we use anyway…
Because:
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things
passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Cor.5:17).
Which means…
If God is calling you to do something, there’s no need for some label — whether given to you by some expert or even self-imposed — to keep you from doing what He wants you to do.
Because God makes it a practice of supplying all
we need to fulfill the tasks He calls us to.
But…
You just might have to shed a label or two… and step forward in faith… before you’re able to see the provision He's made for you.
