There's a popular book out called "The One Thing" by Gary Keller.
It's worth reading.
The book is basically about how to focus more on what matters in life... navigate the clutter... and get the things done that count.
The One Thing has a lot of
good tips in it.
One of my favorites is the discussion of the "domino effect"... which is based on the premise that reaching a big goal doesn't happen in one fell swoop... but by a succession of little actions.
So... the best thing you can do when going after an important target is to identify the first domino to get you there...
Then... after you knock down the first domino, it will lead you to the second one that needs to fall... and so on... until your reach your success point.
Many people might view this as just another book on productivity.
But I really like what it teaches because of its simplicity.
It's highly
applicable, over all areas of life.
... Including your calling.
And the main idea behind the book is biblical too...
As we can see from the Apostle Paul, when he said..."this one thing I do... " (Phil.3:13)!
And the good news is... you don't have to be a
full-time missionary to put this principle into practice.
Just think of the ONE THING you can do this week that will get you closer to living out your your calling in its fullness... and DO IT.
And if you want to delve into this idea further, you might want to get the book.
