"lawyering"

Published: Sat, 02/25/17

Familiar with the term ‘lawyering’?

It’s pretty simple...

Lawyering is when someone tries to justify some action… or inaction…

… Like a lawyer would do.

The first person who practiced lawyering was Adam… when he tried explaining to God why he ate the forbidden fruit.

Children are pretty good at lawyering.

But we’ve all done some lawyering at one time or another.

Perhaps the most overlooked type of lawyering is that which we do to ourselves…

… As we come up with reasons to avoid what God calls us to do.

Thankfully… we have an Advocate (1 Jn. 2:1)…

… Who forgives us, and gives us grace to do what we know we ought to do today.
