Now I see it was a
mistake.
I didn't find a place for much recreation... because it seemed like a waste of time.
But then... after a prolonged illness... I realized otherwise.
I learned that God did not make us a collection of pistons and gears to endlessly produce... but souls that need time to rest, reflect, and make connections between the different
aspects of our lives.
And that is something regular recreation does a good job promoting.
So... I have become more comfortable about taking time to recreate.
Or... as you might say: re-create.
Yet, I haven't become careless about it.
Because I've discovered... as I'm sure you've noticed... not all forms of recreation are the same.
Some types make you feel renewed, while others leave you feeling empty.
For example:
Read one book and it inspires you... read another and it degrades you.
The same thing can be said for movies... and just about any other form of recreation you can think of.
So my basic philosophy is...
Make time for recreation.
But be choosy about it.
The best form of recreation is that which refreshes you... gives you
insight on life... builds your character in some way... and further equips you for all God calls you to do.
Accept nothing less.
