I don't go bowling much.
But when I do, I enjoy it.
Part of what I enjoy is watching the other bowlers.
And it's interesting...
From watching other bowlers, I've come to a conclusion...
You can't
tell how well someone is bowling by observing his or her form.
For example:
The other night I went bowling with one of my boys...
And a couple lanes over there was a guy with an usual style.
The best way I can describe it is he looked like a stork in pursuit of
prey.
And there was nothing graceful about it...
Just jerky, angular movements.
But you know what?
Even though he didn't look like anyone you'd see on the Pro Bowlers Tour... he racked up nothing but strikes and spares...
...
All night long.
Gotta give the guy kudos for that!
And... it got me thinking...
Too many times people don't do something they ought to do because they're afraid they don't look the part.
Or they feel awkward...
Or
are worried about how they come across.
Well... I'm sure glad none of that stopped the Apostle Paul!
Paul, we know from Scripture, did not have an impressive appearance...
And... he likely wasn't even that great a speaker.
But over 2,000 years of church history can be traced back
to his efforts.
And then there's Jesus himself...
Who we're told...
Had no stately form or majesty... or appearance that we should be attracted to Him (Isa. 53:2).
So...
Don't
go worrying about looking the part when it comes to following God's calling.
You never know how He will use your efforts.
So, throw yourself into whatever He calls you to do.
It might not be pretty, but the fruit of your faithfulness could touch lives for generations.
