How to Keep Your Problems from Overwhelming You

Published: Mon, 12/05/16

If you're facing some kind of trouble, you'll want to read this...

J.R.R. Tolkien, author of the famous Lord of the Rings trilogy, once made the profound insight that:

“There cannot be any 'story' without a fall – all stories are ultimately about the fall.”

Now if you think about it, that is absolutely correct.

Every kind of story you can imagine – whether it be comedy or tragedy.... rags to riches or overcoming some monster – they all have to do with facing a crisis... which inevitably goes back to the fall.

In fact, it could be said... you do not have a story until something goes wrong.

And that includes the story of your life.

Your life is more than just a chain of events... dotted by highs and lows.

You are part of a grand narrative.

One where you've been created, and affected by the fall... but headed for glory.

A drama where God is progressively defeating evil and reversing the fall as His kingdom advances in the world.

And it's a story you've been called to play a part.

If you view your life as nothing more than dealing with one difficulty after another... your problems will eventually overwhelm you.

But if you remember that you are part of God's glorious story of redemption brought about in Christ, you will see your troubles in a new light...

You will view them as opportunities to trust and grow and find yourself faithful...

… A chance to watch and see what God will do...

So you can conquer... as you fulfill your part in the story He is writing.
