A couple years ago I read James Altucher's popular book, Choose Yourself.
It's a good book, and it gave me just what I needed at the time.
I was going through some major transition and the book revealed a big insight for me...
Which is:
You can't wait around for someone to validate you and give you permission to pursue your calling.
You just have to "choose yourself" and get busy.
To know you are free to pursue your
calling without any official endorsement can be extremely liberating.
But it can create a lot of anxiety too..
.
Because it raises questions like:
Is what I'm choosing really right for me?
And... will I succeed?
Well... to answer questions like these you have to do more than choose yourself...
You also have to "lose yourself."
You have to lose yourself by following Christ wherever He leads you (Mt.16:25).
Because this is the only way to
discover and experience the best possible life He has for you.
So, yes, choose yourself.
Don't wait around for someone to tell you it's okay to do what God has laid on your heart.
Take the next step.
But... as you proceed... be sure and lose yourself to the Lord.
When you do, you can be assured your unfolding life story will fit perfectly with the larger story
He is working out in the world.

"Sad is the day for any man when he becomes absolutely satisfied with the life he is living, the thoughts that he is thinking and the deeds that he is doing; when there ceases to be forever beating at the
doors of his soul a desire to do something larger which he seeks and knows he was meant and intended to do." ~Phillips Brooks
