Rule Yourself First

Published: Tue, 11/15/16

No matter who you are, God has some domain He intends you to rule over and develop.

That domain may be very small... and that's just fine.

But whether it be small or large, you have to rule yourself before you can do a good job ruling over your realm of responsibility.

This means getting dominion over such things as your...time... emotions... and besetting sins.

This is easier said than done.

The flesh is an ever present foe, seeking to take you away from your calling.

But getting dominion over yourself is possible through Christ.

Because if your faith is in Christ, you have been crucified with Him. And it is no longer you who live, but Christ living in you (Gal.2:20).

Getting dominion over yourself--or anything--is not something you do in your own power.

It's only done through faith in Christ... and living out your purpose in union with Him.

So when it comes to struggling with some area of your personal domain, don't despair.

Just see it as God's way of making sure you don't go off on your own...

Consider it His way of getting you to fulfill your calling by living in constant union with His Son.

Get Dominion,

"Sad is the day for any man when he becomes absolutely satisfied with the life he is living, the thoughts that he is thinking and the deeds that he is doing; when there ceases to be forever beating at the doors of his soul a desire to do something larger which he seeks and knows he was meant and intended to do." ~Phillips Brooks
