Okay. This is my last post on the election...
Throughout his campaign Donald Trump promised to "Make America Great Again."
And in his acceptance speech he talked about the need to unify as a country around this theme.
I sincerely hope the best for President-elect Trump in this. I believe we all should.
But...
For America to be great again, there's something we need to recover.
And that's righteousness.
The Bible tells us
it's righteousness that exalts a nation (Proverbs 14:34).
Not patriotism. Not a commitment to “American values.”
But what the Bible calls righteousness... which is to live in keeping with the standards God has given in His Word.
Unfortunately, America has strayed far from these standards.
1.21 million abortions per year makes this obvious.
So does the fact that public appeals to God and His Word are usually dismissed – and often illegal – across our land
today.
So... if we're really going to see America great again, it's going to take a renewed desire for righteousness.
And this will only come as God works in the hearts of His people.
Let's pray, then, that God would give us a spirit of repentance.
And that we would pursue righteousness in our own lives.
It's the only way to bring about the kind of transformation our country really needs.
And it's the only way America can truly be a great
nation.
