You, O God, are worthy of all praise.
For You have established your throne in the heavens and your sovereignty rules over all.
On this election day, Father, we seek Your mercy.
We confess we have failed to honor You as Lord of our lives... and Lord of our nation.
We have become proud...
We've taken the blessings You've given us, but rejected You as the source of all the good we enjoy.
We have also become wise in our own eyes...
And in the name of multiculturalism and political correctness we've yielded to idols and pursued our own
pleasure.
We know, Lord, the troubles we face as a people have arisen because we have strayed from you.
And we ask that many today would have repentant hearts... as they realize our well-being as a country does not come from political rulers but from You and Your favor.
We thank you, O Lord, that You are a merciful God, and have
treated us better than we deserve.
For we still have many of the blessings of our forefathers, and... we have the hope that comes from knowing there is forgiveness and renewal in Your Son.
So, Lord, we ask... bring healing to our land as we turn to you. And give us rulers that are wise enough to fear You and give heed to Your Word.
But whatever rulers you choose to give us, Father, keep us from despair.
Help us to remember, whoever is president, Jesus is King.
For we know that He is above all authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age, but also in the one to come.
Finally... we thank you, Father, we can be assured... though nations rise and fall... Your kingdom cannot fail.
And we rejoice that You have called us to play a part in the work of that kingdom.
So, help us not to be distracted by all the political chatter there will be today... and empower us to do the work given us to do well, as an
offering unto You.
In the Name of Jesus, who is Lord over all.
Amen
