“Waiting on the Lord.”
It's a pious sounding phrase.
But it can be an excuse for doing nothing.
And if one thing is for sure... God doesn't want you sitting around doing nothing in the name of waiting on Him.
So what should we do while waiting on God
to provide clearer direction?
We ought to work on making ourselves as useful to God and His kingdom as possible.
Here are four areas to attend to:
First, knowledge.
Is there an area you believe God desires to use you more than he is today?
Then prepare yourself by gaining as much knowledge about that area as you can.
Second, skill.
We must be more than willing to serve. We must also be able. So work on mastering the skills you'll be needing.
Third, wisdom.
Head knowledge is not enough. You need the wisdom that
directs you when and how to use what you know.
This wisdom comes by applying what you know where you are right now.
Finally, character.
Character is the foundation of all usefulness to God.
Is there an issue with your character that needs attention?
It could be that God is waiting for you to address it before using you in any greater way than He is now.
In fact... while you might be tired
of waiting on the Lord, He might be tired of waiting on you!
There's nothing passive about waiting on the Lord.
Prepare yourself so you can be as useful to Him as possible.
