Did you hear about the man who didn't talk to his wife for 20 years?
It started after their children were born.
Apparently he got jealous and bitter over the attention she was giving them... and just decided he wasn't going to talk to her.
She continued to speak to him.
But he never responded.
He just sulked -- for 20 years.
What a sad story.
On so many levels...
Especially when you consider all those years of lost opportunity.
But it got me
thinking...
How often do we miss opportunities to do good because we're absorbed with bitterness or envy?
More than we'd like to admit, I'm afraid.
The book of Hebrews warns us not to allow any root of bitterness to spring up and cause trouble (Heb.12:15).
That's a good
warning... as bitterness ruins relationships... and keeps us from the work God calls us to do.
So if you suffer some slight... or something doesn't go your way... don't get bitter... let it go.
God's called you to a greater work than nursing resentments.
