I heard a news story yesterday that probably put fear in a lot of those who heard it.
The story was about how automation and robotics are going to totally eliminate many jobs we've grown accustomed to.
... Even common jobs involving customer service and middle management.
In fact... according to the report...
up to 50 percent of occupations today won't even exist in the year 2025.
Wow... that's a lot of change coming our way!
But it's not necessarily bad. Or scary.
Jobs have been disappearing for years.
And in most cases it's been a positive thing.
Isn't it good that we no longer have a need for scribes or lamp lighters or cotton pickers or human food testers?
It sure make things safer and more efficient.
Now I realize that if... back in the day... you lost your job as a milkman or bowling alley pinsetter it could be tough to take.
And if you lost
your job to automation today, it might be a huge challenge to adjust.
But remember...
God's mandate to take dominion involves development... and with that development the type of work that needs to be done will change.
So don't let all the talk about robotics and automation scare you.
It's a sign of progress.
And it reflects the kind of development humans made in the image of God ought to be making.
And... to the extent you are affected... God might just open up a door to more creative and satisfying labor.
There will always be plenty of work to do.
And as one who’s made in God’s image, you have the ability to innovate and solve problems so you can find a new place to serve others.
