One of my resolutions this year is to get better organized.
It was a resolution last year, too... and I think the year before!
Fortunately, I am getting better in this area... it's just happening -- as the Bible says -- "little by little" (Ex.23:30).
While organizing some things this morning, I came across John Piper's book, "Don't Waste Your Life," which I read a few years ago.
I honestly don't remember a lot about the book.
But I love
the title.
Because when reading it you can't help but stop and ask yourself, "Am I wasting my life?"
... It happens to me every time I see the book.
So... this morning... when I saw the book... and read the title... I went through the process all over again...
Self-evaluating... clarifying what an unwasted really looks like... and considering my direction... and how I spend my time...
And I came to the same conclusion I always do...
An unwasted life is
only that which is spent doing what God has called you and gifted you to do to fulfill the Dominion Mandate.
In my thinking, anything short of that is going to involve some waste.
Even if you are doing things the world would call good.
The late Howard Hendricks once said, "My great concern for you in life is not that you will fail, but that you will succeed in doing the wrong things."
So true...
It's possible to succeed AND waste you're life if you're not doing
what you know God's called you to do.
Keep that in mind as you make your plans for 2017.
And keep abiding in Him... so you can do the good works He's ordained for you to do.
