You are Second

There's a media campaign that's been going on for several years now.

Maybe you've seen it.

It's called "I am second."

The videos feature various actors, musicians, athletes. and business leaders... and they all tell their story about how they came to put Jesus Christ first in their lives.

The setting for the videos is always the same.

A dark room... with those who give their testimony seated on a lighted, white chair.

I saw a couple of these videos this morning.

As I watched them I couldn't help but think that the "I am second" theme is not just biblical (see Mt. 16:25;19:30)... it's also a good way to find your place in the Dominion Mandate.

... You don't have to be a celebrity to be consumed with building your own kingdom.

It's something we're all prone to do... because we're all inclined to put ourselves first.

And the results are always the same... whether you live a life of fame or a life of obscurity.

No matter who you are, putting yourself first leads to emptiness, loneliness, and usually self-destructive behavior.

... Something far short of what God has in mind for you...

And it happens because God didn't design us to make our lives about building our own little kingdoms.

He made us -- and gave us gifts -- so we'd be about advancing His kingdom.

So fulfilling your purpose in life is very much about keeping these things straight:

God -- and His kingdom -- are first.

You are second.

Keeping this straight will go a long way to help you find your place in the world.
