'Tis the season that we have a lot of emphasis on angels.
Angel Christmas decorations and ornaments...
Angel-shaped Christmas cookies...
Angels in Christmas carols...
Angels embroidered on clothing...
And so on.
All of this attention on angels is fitting, of course, since they play a big role in the story of Christ's birth (Luke1-2).
But... it's worth remembering that God has given you something He hasn't given angels.
As a human being, God has appointed you – not angels – to have dominion over the
earth.
See what the Bible tells us about mankind in Christ:
“What is man that you are mindful of him, or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels; You have crowned him with glory and honor, and set him over the works of your hands. You have put all things in subjection under his feet” (Heb.2:6-8).
Through His birth, Christ was made a little lower than the angels for a time.
But He did it to restore mankind, so it would faithfully rule over creation.
So go ahead and enjoy the glory of angels as they are part of the Christmas message.
But don't forget... it is to YOU – as you live your life in Christ
– God has crowned to rule over the work of His hands.
