One of my favorite hymns is "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" by Martin Luther.
In the hymn there's a line that reads:
"The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him who with us sideth..."
Understanding this line is important if you are going to faithfully fulfill your calling.
Let me explain:
We often think about our gifts and how we are to use them.
That's good!
But how often do we
consider the Spirit when it comes to employing those gifts?
Not often enough, I'm afraid.
Yet we need both... the gifts AND the Spirit.
After all...
It's the Spirit who gave Bezalel and his workmen the skill they needed to build the tabernacle (Ex.31:1-11).
And it was the Holy Spirit who gave courage and strength to men like Gideon (Jdg.6:34) and David (1 Sam.16:13) to fulfill their callings.
And... of course, it's
the Spirit of God Himself who is the source of all creative power to do any good work (Gen.1:1-2).
So remember:
Just as God gave Luther the gifts AND the Spirit to fulfill a distinct purpose in his time, so has He given you the same.
And that means... don't just rely on your gifts alone.
But constantly look to the Spirit to give you all the skill, wisdom, and courage you need to be faithful with any task He gives you to do.

the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth" (Genesis 1:28).
