Been feeling like your efforts have been fruitless?
Here's a story that ought to encourage you...
Way back in 1912 Dr. William Leslie went to serve as a medical missionary in a remote jungle in Central Africa.
He went there with the goal of spreading Christianity to the tribal
people.
But, according to Godreports, "After ministering for 17 years he returned to the U.S. a discouraged man --
believing he failed to make an impact for Christ."
Nine years later Dr. Leslie died, and it looked like all his time spent in Africa was a wasted effort.
So it seemed...
Until a few years ago, when a team from World Ministries went to explore the same jungle region where Dr. Leslie served.
Just getting to the area was difficult... as it took a lot of hiking... and even travel by dugout canoe.
But it was all worth it...
Because as the team made their way through the jungle, they found -- get this -- eight churches scattered across 34 miles... all traced to Dr. Leslie's ministry.
So friend...
you may feel like your efforts have been a waste.
But that remains to be seen...
Because your work may not show results for a very long time.
So think carefully about what you do today.
And... if you're not seeing the results you want, take heart.
Be encouraged.
The real fruit of your labor may not appear 'til long after you die.
Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.
~1 Corinthians 15:58
